The working principle of the wet mill is relatively simple and efficient. Its core lies in the use of mutual friction between the material and the grinding stone (or grinding wheel, grinding plate) to achieve the grinding and crushing of the material. Specifically, the working principle of the wet mill can be summarized as follows:
1. Power transmission and grinding wheel movement
The
wet pan mill is mainly composed of the power unit, frame, water basin, grinding wheel, grinding plate, and other components. When working, the motor transmits power to the reducer, and the reducer transmits the torque to the upper horizontal shaft through the large vertical shaft. The pull rods installed at both ends of the horizontal shaft transmit power to the grinding wheel so that the grinding wheel generates driving force. The grinding wheel can revolve around the large vertical axis and rotate around its own central axis in the wet mill. This combination of revolution and rotation enables the grinding wheel to fully squeeze, rub, and grind the material during operation.
2. Material grinding and crushing
After the added ore material enters the wet mill, the material is repeatedly squeezed, rubbed, and ground under the extrusion force brought by the weight of the grinding wheel itself and the huge friction between the grinding wheel and the grinding plate when the grinding wheel revolves and rotates. In this process, the material is gradually crushed into the required fine powder particles. At the same time, the wet mill is also equipped with a water spray system, which can spray an appropriate amount of water during the grinding process to reduce the generation of dust and help mix and stir the materials.
3. Material classification and discharge
After grinding and crushing, the monomer dissociated mineral fine particles will be brought to the upper layer of the liquid surface in the mixed slurry. The wet mill is usually equipped with an overflow discharge port on the water basin. These fine minerals will overflow and discharge through the discharge port and enter the next operation process for processing. The coarse minerals settle at the bottom of the grinding plate and continue to be ground and crushed until their fineness reaches the standard. In addition, a screen may be set at the discharge port to strictly control the graded particle size to avoid over-crushing of the minerals or uneven particle size.
